Job Description

BAE Systems in Louisville, KY is hiring aSite Quality Manager. This position oversees all manufacturing related quality functions within the Louisville facilities. This position will manage up to 30 direct reports overseeing management of all Quality activities related to Safety, Quality, Cost, and Schedule:

  • Manages all Quality functions associated with the manufacturing of products;

  • Coordinates activities and duties of Quality Assurance staff;

  • Manages development and maintenance of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System;

  • Supports all necessary internal and 3rd party audits;

  • Oversees adherence/development/maintenance of all internal procedures;

  • Ensures compliance with technical specifications, contractual requirements, and purchase order requirements;

  • Provides oversight of timely corrective action responses to the customer and chairs corrective action boards;

  • Facilitates/participates on defect reduction and continuous improvement teams;

  • Utilizes problem solving techniques to identify root cause and institutes corrective actions;

  • Mentors/develops Quality Assurance team through development and incorporation of training initiatives;

  • Develops/leads short and long-range strategic plans related to all quality functions;

  • Formulates and maintains adherence to departmental budgets;

  • Generates technical reports as necessary;

  • Acts as primary liaison between BAE Systems and the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) personnel / management;

  • Builds and maintains an effective business relationship with DCMA and DoD customers.

NOTE: Working hours will primarily be 1st Shift operation, Monday through Friday 9/80 schedule with some daily/weekend overtime required.

Required Skills and Education

Required Skills and Background:

  • Requires a bachelor s degree in a technical field plus 10 years experience in a Quality Assurance / Quality Control role, or the overall equivalent;

  • Experience of at least 3 years in a supervisory / management role;

  • Working knowledge within ISO 9001 standards;

  • Proven background in problem solving techniques (A3, DMAIC, etc) and analytical ability;

  • Computer proficiency in MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database applications;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Ability to lead, mentor, nurture, develop, train a team.

Preferred Skills and Education

Preferred Skills and Education:

  • ASQ Certification;

  • Experience managing quality program in support of government contracts, preferably DoD;

  • Formal training in statistics and / or root cause analysis;

  • Experience implementing APQP in a low-rate, technically complex product environment.
